Nathan Road Studios, Hong Kong

Nostalgia for old Hong Kong inspired the redesign of a portion of an old building on Nathan Road. The view from Nathan Road highlights and celebrates the existing architecture and aesthetics of corner houses. Previously, the five apartments in this project were divided with partition walls, limiting the overall space, light and circulation. The brief was to bring the five units up to code and make them as light and airy as possible. Any temporary interior walls were removed and the remaining walls were painted white to provide a sense of lightness and airiness, whilst allowing as much natural light into the space as possible. All electrical and plumbing fixtures were brought up to date and to code and the bathrooms were finished with simple, elegant materials.
